Warm rain

It is misty out side. The kind of mist that brings with it warm weather yet carries a cloudy overcast.
Previous adventures earlier this week have wiped me out. My body is begging me to take it easy or it just might be the gloomy skies. Either way... we are taking it easy. Avery's car seat is locked in another car and we don't have the keys. This is probably the main reason we forced to are staying home. But it is an oops well appreciated by my achy bones and belly.

Miss Avery on the other hand, still has plenty of energy
and will not lay down without a fight.
A fight, I thoroughly enjoy--
one full of laughter, giggles, kisses and love.
Between the movie watching, ball playing, cards, and dolls--
We had some jumping on the bed.

This little monkey loved every bit. And so did I.

Kansas City Zoo

How'd. This picture is for family and friends back in Utah/Texas. We miss you and just wanted to let you know that we are doing great. As you can tell, we are all healthy {even Miss Avery's ear infection has subsided} and having a fun adventure out in the midwest. Yes, sometimes we feed our child brownies for breakfast and ask her to smile with a full mouth. We are working on the manners.
***
Our trip to the zoo was a success. Beautiful weather, great company, not over crowded,
and Tuesdays are dollar off days... woo hoo.
I am pretty sure that miss avery's favorite parts, besides seeing some crazy looking creatures,
were the daddy time and multiple playgrounds.
This girl can slide and swing for hours.
We met some new "friends" during the trip.
Avery didn't pass up the chance to have staring contests with any animal
that would welcome the challenge. Slow and steady wins the race.
Avery was neither, therefore the tortoise comes out on top again.
She is at that age were she is mimicking anyone and everyone.
Can be a scary stage to think about all the influences around her molding that little mind.
But recently, it has been hilarious to seat back and watch.
There were these big murals of animals that people would pose in front of for a good picture.
Avery had to try it out. Such a natural.
Though the zoo left us with achy feet and slightly red faces,
 all in all the chance to enjoy one another and
watch our lil one discover new things was priceless.

I know that you can't see the entire tigers' cage but it was tiny for such big animals... poor things.
But then again, I rather see them in the small cage than out and about.
I am picky when it comes to caged animals and zoos.
If you are going to pluck them from their surroundings at least surround them with familiarity.
Not a 12x12 metal and rock container.
I am off my soap box.

Enjoy the rest of your week. It should be raining here for the next 6 days... I am actually excited.
It's way better than snow! Nothing beats warm rain. It should be experienced at least once in your life.
It is the kind that your mom would let you play in for hours
without worrying about you catching pneumonia.

Kansas City living

We are at the place in life, where we can still move around and "visit" different areas of the country without causing to much psychological stress on ourselves or the little one. I, for one, love to travel and see different cultures and landscapes.
So we find ourselves in KANSAS CITY for a couple weeks before jetting off to my roots...

The Big "D"
(Dallas: for those that don't speak Texan)

{Our first night in our hotel room}

My goal this summer, since I have experienced a few summer sale seasons already, is just to have fun and soak up the city with (unknown) peanut and little miss in tow.

And thus far, I think we are accomplishing it.

{A little bit of tractor riding at the local farm}
{STILL fighting off an ear infection, poor girl}

{Taking a few field trips to church sites. Here and Here.}

{During the trips, the kids enjoyed reenacting the pioneer days}
{We have already scoped out the local library... and applied for a card}
It's a pretty nice library, with a big movie selection.

We  were able to spend some  tiny bit of time with Mr. P at the Kansas City Zoo
before he had to head off to work.
And Nikita was fun to meet. He is huge and playful.
I felt bad for the tigers, though.
Their home was the size of a bird cage... no joke.
We will share that adventure tomorrow.

Here is Lil miss side by side, exactly one year apart.
That face just melts my heart.
ANd I thought she was BIG back then... little did I know.
This comparison sure helps teach the lesson to treasure each day.
It is the small things that matter.
I have been learning that through Lil miss and also from James' cousin.
Her little one, who is about the same age as Avery, is fighting cancer.
Keep them in your prayers.

I know a lot of bloggers started blogging to use it as a journal outlet.

*** What is the easiest way to create keepsakes with your post or do you even bother? Do you turn your blogs into books, if so what program do you use? ***

Have a happy Wednesday from the midwest.

Big sister

It's true.
We are expecting our new addition Oct. 20th.
From previous experience, anytime there is a 2-3 month gap in my blogging
it means only ONE thing...

I am battling the effects of extreme FATIGUE due to a little peanut growing inside.

We are super excited.
And if you are wondering...
 No, Avery has no idea or concept of what is about to happen to her little world.
It will definitely be an adjustment period for us all.
